Pandas are guileless, docile creatures…or so you’d think.
This totally new take on comedy is a collection of short stories rooted in conversations between a young man and a sarcastic, unceremoniously blunt panda. Fans run the gamut from theater to comedy to sub-culture aficionados.
First popularized as an Internet manga, Yasagure Panda was published in 2005, selling over 260,000 copies to date. DVD adaptations entitled
White Version and Black Version were released in 2007, and due to popular demand, Gold and Silver Versions were subsequently released in 2008.
The DVD features Masato Sakai -- a talented actor currently engaged in multiple TV, film and theater roles -- as the “young man”. The versatile Katsuhisa Namase lends his voice to Yasagure (Cynical) Panda. The DVD was written and directed by the actor/TV comedy writer Keisuke Horibe.
