Junsei Agata is devoting himself to becoming an art restorer of historical paintings at a studio in Florence. Junsei has worked hard and is on the verge of becoming established in his field.
Junsei lives with Memi, an active and very determined girl. It seems that he is very content with his life and everything is perfect for him.
But deep down Junsei has an ache in his heart, he can never forget the lover of his youth, Aoi. Junsei and Aoi met when they were still at school and they grew up together. Their relationship was special, he always felt so relaxed and they could communicate without the need for words. Aoi, from Hong Kong, is very smart and quite calm in appearance, but deep in her heart she is brimming with passionate love. She is the only person to teach Junsei that to love is to be lonely. Earlier, a mutual friend, Takashi, told Junsei that Aoi was living in Milan. He went to see her, knowing that she was the one and only woman who could heal the wounds in his heart. He dearly wished to start over again with Aoi and he firmly believed that she would feel the same way.
But the reality was totally different. Aoi was with her lover Marv, a wealthy American businessman who caters to her every whim and desire. Aoi works in a jewelry shop during the day and her nights are filled with wonderful parties and high-class restaurants in the company of Marv.
She is content with her life and everything appears to be perfectly balanced. Junsei had to admit that there is no room for him anymore.
Brokenhearted, Junsei is further devastated when a canvas under his supervision is mysteriously damaged. This desecration ruins the studio and Junsei has to return to Japan, much to his anger and sorrow. But even in his despair, his passion for Aoi grows steadily deeper.
Junsei's last hope is a pact he made with Aoi ten years ago. They promised to meet at the Cupola de Dumo in Florence on Aoi's 30th birthday. Despite his fear that Aoi would have forgotten all about it by now, he sets out for Italy, clutching at a ray of hope that she loves him as dearly as he loves her.
