CAST & STAFF

It's the "real thing" -- No stuntmen are used in this non-stop, action-packed film that will take your breath away! His only weapons... his body of steel and soul of fire!

Kane Kosugi, popularized by his down-to-earth character and unparalleled physical prowess, stars in his long awaited film debut.
In an age of action films dominated by CG and SFX, Kane, in his role as ex-US Navy

Special Forces agent, Joe Jinno, pushes the human body to its absolute limit in an all-out effort to bring us the "real thing" |unadulterated action in its purest form.
Kane's enthusiasm and passion in making this film a success attracted international superstar, Jackie Chan and an action director Sam Won, who have joined forces to support this new, rising star on the action film scene. This exciting combination explodes with high voltage, high-speed action!

Action Director Sam Wong says | "This film is packed with action scenes, and Kane's "action" is solid with miles of heart. He is sure to become a new action film icon."

Co-starring as Joe's partner, Katsuragi, is the famous Japanese action star, Sho Aikawa. And playing the role of Joe's archrival, Kenji, is Masaya Kato, who is currently based in Hollywood specializing in martial arts and boxing.
The "master chef" who concocts this pot of talent into a sizzling cinematic product is Ten Shimoyama who has directed highly acclaimed Japanese films as well as music videos.
"'Muscle Heat' is not just about "wowing" the audience with awesome action. It is equally a story about the journey and growth of the hero, Joe, as a human being. The power of the action comes from his struggle to overcome extreme hardship and obstacles with only his own human strength to believe in."

Director Shimoyama successfully combines his passionate message with stimulating imagery to create a raw, yet surprisingly moving entertainment form.
(And it gives birth to a new star, Kane Kosugi, who has his sights set on breaking through the Japanese film scene and Hollywood!)

story

Solitude, Sorrow, and the Bond of Friendship | drive him to become the Ultimate Warrior...

In the year 2009, the Hong Kong Mafia proliferates and rules an anarchistic Tokyo. And at the center of this city of darkness, the story unfolds around ex-Naval Special Forces agent, Joe Jinno (Kane) | a man with a body of steel and a burning fighting spirit. But he is also a man with a past, unable to open his heart to anyone, until he forms a bond of friendship with Katsuragi, his partner of a special duty with the Japanese Security Agency. Their mission to hunt down the crime syndicate mastermind, Kenji, leads them to the hotbed of the new drug on the street, "Blood Heat". But an overzealous move on Kane's part unwittingly puts Katsuragi into the enemy's hands and allows Kenji to slip away from their grasp.

Kenji runs an underground "Fight Club" called the "Muscle Dome" where warriors fight to the death to entertain an audience of outlaws and social dregs, who literally bet their lives away on the nightly "death matches". Joe is sucked into this macabre world to save his partner, and in the process, saves a girl, Haruka, the daughter of the scientist who invented the drug, "Blood Heat."
Wounded, Joe seeks the help of Ken | the leader of the underground gang of kids who have lost their parents to the death matches in the "Muscle Dome".

Meanwhile, Katsuragi's sister, Akane, a Tokyo police officer also seeks to bring Kenji down. With the help of Akane and Ken, Joe determines to fight for one last time |to save his partner's life.

Unaware of the terrible fate that awaits him, Joe steps into the Muscle Dome -- to fight the Death Match of his life!

PRODUCTION NOTE

HOW TO DIRECT THE ACTION

Many original Japanese action films have been popularized recently, but this collaboration involving Kane, Director Shimoyama, action director Sam Won and his talented cast, is driven by its seamless teamwork and high caliber. The visually effortless fluidity of the action, which can be found in typical Jackie Chan's films, is actually a result of carefully executed precision. Action director, Sam Won takes each action scene (which is actually comprised of 20 or more action sequences) and makes it "flow" -- drawing the audience in to the visual perspective of both the hero and the enemy. He successfully creates "real and believable action" in the context of the particular film's world.

(The actors, in an effort to create long, fluid action scenes must carry out the sequences with an incredible level of concentration and precision to prevent accidents and injuries. The concentration was so intense that filming once continued for over 26 hours!)

"Kane doesn't know how to hold back yet|so his co-stars get quite a beating!" laughs Won.
Also co-starring with Kane is Masaya Kato, who has recently been in many Hollywood and overseas action films. "You've never seen action like this before | (I suggested the use of hammers in the final fight scene between Kenji and Joe, but soon regretted it | Its murder on your arms!" claims Kato.) "Kane's level of action is world class | his moves, speed, precision, spring, fighting sense | all are incredible!" claims Kato.

A REAL CAST OF FIGHTERS

Shinya Hashimoto, King of the Japanese pro-wrestling world and YoshihiroTakayama, free-lance fighter who left the pro-wrestling association, NOAH to challenge new forms of fighting, are cast as warriors in the "Muscle Dome".
Hashimoto's famous kicks and Takayama, who took on two enemies at once and continued filming despite real injuries, create reality rarely witnessed in today's action films.

THE SOURCE OF KANE'S ENERGY

Kane performs each and every action scene himself, without the use of any stuntmen. Exciting scenes include a spectacular 15-meter "Highfall" from a bridge onto a 2-meter target on a moving boat, on a windy day! And Kane delivers in a single take! Regretfully, no cameraman would take the dive with him, but during filming, Kane spoke with his mentor, Jackie Chan, who was himself filming a new movie in Czechoslovakia. Chan encouraged Kane to "Go for it!" To Kane, those words were a true source of energy.
