SYNOPSIS

The "wall man" ("Kabe Otoko") is a strange wall-dwelling creature that is neither human nor ghost. He observes the ways of mankind from his unique position, and television plays an important role in its existence. When Nishina tells his TV reporter girlfriend Kyoko what he has heard about this creature, she introduces the story on her show, setting off a bizarre chain of events...

university. He started making 8mm films at university. After working for several years in a commercial production company, he shot in 16mm his first feature "7/25 nana-ni-go," which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival's International Critics' Week in 1999 and which won awards in various festivals including the Vancouver Film Festival (Dragon and Tiger Award), Torino Film Festival (Best Screenplay award) and the Belfort Film Festival (Best Foreign Film).

"The Wall Man" is HAYAKAWA's second feature film. It is based on a manga of the same title by the cult manga artist Daijiro Morohoshi that Hayakawa had wanted to adapt for many years. Morohoshi has inspired other film directors including Shinya TSUKAMOTO
